Gruta de los Cuervos
Gruta de los Cuervos and Gruta de los Helechos (Crow’s Cave and Fern’s Cave) is an ideal place to visit for those people who enjoy being in contact with nature in places untouched by Man.
Cerro Pan de Azúcar
The Cerro Pan de Azúcar is 423 meters high and it is the highest hill near the coast in the department of Maldonado. At its summit there is a 35-meter-high cement cross, created by Juan Zorrilla de San Martín in 1933.
Pozos Azules
EThe journey of the Sierra de las Animas is a wild trip to the highlands where the visitors can get in real contact with nature. In an unforgettable trekking experience, the visitors walk the Camino Real through the native forest in which there are cool galleries, accompanied by birds and butterflies, which shall lead them to the summit of the Cerro de las Ánimas.

Salto del Penitente
The Salto del Penitente (the Penitent’s Waterfall) is located some kilometers from Minas city, in the department of Lavalleja. This singular waterfall which cascades for more than 20 meters is 7 kilometers away from the city.
Villa Serrana
Villa Serrana is a small village founded in 1945 as a European-style leisure town. It is located in the department of Lavalleja between the valleys of Penitente and Marmarajá. Julio Vilamajó was the architect who designed its most representative houses. Mesón de las Cañas, which is nowadays a restaurant and the Ventorillo de la Buena Vista are both symbols of the place.
Quebrada de los Cuervos
Quebrada de los Cuervos is the prefect place to enjoy natural and adventure tourism.This is a part of the first protected area in Uruguay since 1986. It is located in the department of Treinta y Tres, 20 kilometers away from its capital city.
Valle Lunarejo
We propose an adventure in the department of Rivera, starting with a visit to the small Tranqueras city founded in 1892 and, from there, following the road to Masoller town. These 30 kilometers will allow the traveler to enjoy the beautiful landscape and the quietness of the place. On the way, the visitor will cross the Lunarejo stream valley, which has been declared a flora and fauna reserve.

Cerro Arequita
In the department of Lavalleja the landscape is the protagonist. The hills flood the area, giving a particular appearance to the department. The Cerro Arequita, 11 kilometers to the north of the city of Minas overlooks the Santa Lucía River Valley with its stone walls. About half a kilometer before the hill there is the Ombú tree island and we propose that the walk begins there.

Bosque de Ombúes
The largest group of ombú trees in the region is on the banks of the Laguna de Castillos (Castillos Lake). The Ombú tree forest has an extension of 20 kilometers.
Balneario Iporá
Balneario Iporá (Iporá lakeside resort), was created 30 years ago, 7 kilometers away from Tacuarembó city. We propose you to know it and to enjoy its surroundings. The resort has an eight-hectare artificial lake surrounded by eucalyptus and pine trees.
Valle Edén
Valle Edén, with its picturesque train station, its original hanging bridge and its camping site on the stream, is located at 21 kilometers from Tacuarembó city.
Parque Santa Teresa
El Parque Santa Teresa cuenta con 3.000 hectáreas y más de 2 millones de árboles. Aunque Rocha es tierra de grandes montes indígenas (bosques de árboles autóctonos), en Santa Teresa decidió forestarse con un criterio amplio, incluyendo flora uruguaya y también exótica.
Costa del Río Yí
The Treinta y Tres Orientales camping site, located in the capital of the department of Durazno, offers the visitors beautiful natural surroundings on the Yí river coast, in the middle of a well-preserved and well- exploited thick autochthonous forest.
Reserva de Fauna
Cerro Pan de Azúcar is a 487 meter-high hill, the third highest in Uruguay, located 5 kilometers away from the second most important seaside resort in Uruguay, Piriápolis.

In Uruguay, there are attractive protected areas that shelter native and exotic tree reserves.

Rural Tourism - Estancias and gauchos
There are in Uruguay, about one hundred farms or “estancias” where you can enjoy rural tourism and step into the boots of a "gaucho" for a few days, feeling the freedom of these plains. The roads are good and distances are relatively short.

The 'gaucho' is a typical figure of the countryside and is associated with the origin of the country. His courage and sense of freedom were determinant in the struggle for independence.
