The bilateral relations situation between both countries can be described as very good. There is no political contentious or any other of any type that may overshadow these relations;

Below, the current situation is analyzed, by subject:
 

The Embassy holds a strong presence in all political forums and in all instances that take place in Lebanon, therefore it allows this Diplomatic Mission to be informed of any evolution related to the political developments in Lebanon and in the region of the Middle East and then informs its Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

For this purpose the Embassy attends the frequent meetings of the Latin American and the Caribbean Group (GRULAC) of Beirut, which are considered a contributing element to this need for information;

● Both countries profess respect for the principles of defense of peace, peaceful solution of disputes, the exercise of democracy, human rights and freedom;

● As to the index of coincidences, it should be noted that Uruguay and Lebanon support highly each other in favor of the United Nations' resolutions;

Lebanon applies at the present the following tariffs on imports of some products that Uruguay exports, such as:

- Live bovine animals (0% + VAT)

- Wines (70% the liter + 10% VAT + 200 L.L. for each liter); sparkling wine (15% the liter + 10% VAT + 200 L.L. for each liter)

- Honey (35% + MIN NET/Kg 8000 L.L.)

- Cultural Cooperation Agreement - signed in Montevideo, on May 31^st, 1954;

- Cultural Cooperation Agreement - signed in Beirut on December 17, 1999 and ratified on March 5, 2009;

- Memorandum of Understanding between the National Council of Scientific Research of Lebanon (CNRS) and the National Agency of Investigation and Innovation of Uruguay (ANII) - signed in Beirut on September 16, 2011.

-  On the 28/9/12 in Darbeshtar and on the 4/10/12 in Pando, a brotherhood Agreement was signed between both cities, united through the emigration of many families who left from the North of Lebanon, heading to Uruguay

- On the 11th of October 2012, an Agreement was signed between the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) and the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UDELAR). Many projects are foreseen in this Agreement, for example, the exchange of Professors and students, exchange of communications and experiences, as well as studies of architectural projects between both Universities, etc.
